What is outlaw paintball?

Woodsball, or outlaw paintball, is any type of paintball which is not played on professional level and speedball field.

Instead of the prepared artificial bunkers and barriers that are typical to paintball, woodsball takes advantage of natural settings.

Trees, bushes, rocks or rock formations, and even desert dunes, can serve as backdrop for groups playing woodsball.

Different variants of the sport is played, from the basic ‘capture the flag and elimination’ to the more adrenaline-driven games of paintball.

Outfits worn are generally camouflage or dark colour pants and jerseys, depending on what type of environs and terrain you’re playing at.

As to guns, novice players typically use entry-level guns, whereas experts use high-end electro-pneumatic guns equipped with force-fed hoppers that are capable of firing rapidly.

A word of caution though – paintball, whether woodsball or speedball, can be dangerous. So be sure to that every participant understands and observes all safety rules strictly.

Dye Assault Matrix (DAM) Paintball Marker review

The Dye Assault Matrix (DAM) Paintball Marker is definitely one of the coolest guns specifically designed for tactical players.

It has the lethal combination of high performance and flexibility, being able to switch from magazine-fed system to loader-fed system effortlessly.

It fires in three modes – semi, three-round-burst and full-automatic – although there are issues with loss of pressure when used in the full automatic mode. Some defects on wiring and connection were also reported.

Moreover, it features a shroud or rails for added accessories; detachable lockdown-clamping feedneck; Dye Tactical Sticky Grips; competition-quality single-trigger frame; rotating eyepiece; firing mode selector; and a basically supportable bolt with quick-release system and built-in hyper regulator.

The marker weighs 4.76 pounds excluding the clip. The DAM paintball gun comes in a carrying case and costs around $1500.

Tippmann US ARMY Project Salvo Paintball Gun Sniper Set

The US Army Project Salvo Paintball sniper set by Tippmann is designed to boost your game to the ultimate combat play level imaginable.

Tipmann markers are known for the combat realism integrated in their design, being the marker brand trusted by the US Army for training its troops.

This set includes the following: the marker, hopper, remote, tank, gun case, mask, harness, pods, maintenance pack and a few other things.

The marker features an AR15-type 6-position folding and collapsible stock with fourpicatinny rails for accessorizing and customization; a high-performance 11-inch anodized barrel, and a magazine that doubles up as a tool kit.

It has adjustable front and rear sights, a front sling mount, an inline bolt system, a lightweight trigger pull perfect for easy and efficient shots, a quick-release feeder elbow, and a durable stainless steel braided gas line.

As mentioned, Project Salvo has awesome inclusions, such as a 200-round hopper, a square-padded gun case, GXG stealth mask with visor, aheavy-duty coiled remote with quick disconnect, and a 1-oz bottle of Gold Cup oil.

It also comes with a 20-oz CO2 tank with a pin valve. An HPA tank would have been preferable; but at the price, you can hardly complain.

The 6+1 harnesscan carry a ton; thus, carrying the marker and everything is not a problem. The whole starter combat kit by Tippman has a price tag that ranges from $200 to $300. It’s probably the best woodsball gun under 300 dollars.

Empire BT TM-15 Paintball Marker Gun Deluxe Package

The Empire BT TM-15 Paintball marker certainly has the looks and dependability you would expect from a much higher priced brand marker.

It is highly durable, fully electronic and offers a selection of firing modes with just a few clicks.

The kit offers complete accessories from mask to gun case, and includes a maintenance pack to protect and keep your gun and its accessories in tip-top condition at all times.

The body of the gun is made of plastic, but not very durable. The shroud seems longer than the standard length, except for the BT Tm-15 limited edition released.

You will realize the first time you clean the gun that putting back the trigger assembly is quite complicated. The Empire BT TM-16 package is quite expensive at around $800.

Tippmann X7 Phenom Super Pack Paintball Marker

The Tippmann X7 Phenom Super Pack paintball tactical marker is a bit more expensive than the Project Salvo.

The X7 Phenomhas 2 carry handles with high-quality sights and 14-inch Pathfinder barrel. It is packed with 4 fore grips, 3 magazines and 3 stocks.

The marker has a very good range and high accuracy. When you’re firing at full automatic mode, the rate of fire is amazing but keeps at a velocity that does not burn the ammo.

The best part about this gun is that it can be switched to mechanical on semi-automatic mode, allowing you to stay alive on the field even when your battery is dead. The price is around $500 for the Tippman X7.

What is the best paintball gun for woodsball?

Don’t get unlucky with a dead battery in the warzone. Get the X7 Phenom! Sure, it’s pricey and is not the best woodsball gun under 100 dollars, 200 dollars, or even 300 dollars — but it does rank as one of the top rated woodsball guns on the market.
