Why use a tractor wax?
The single most important thing you can do to protect the finish of your good tractor’s paint or clearcoat, and also keep that freshly detailed appearance, complete with deep, wet gloss, is wash and wax the exterior paint periodically.
It used to be you just washed and dried your car, and then pulled out your other favorite cleaner/wax can to bring back that shine and wax protection.
The wax can protect the paint from debris such as mud from the field. The mud will shed off the slick, shiny surface easier with it has a good wax coating on it.
How do you use tractor wax?
If using a paste wax, you need to apply wax on an applicator pad with a circular motion, and then onto your tractor.
Allow the wax to dry as long as stated in the instructions, then rub off the wax using a microfiber cloth, working it in circles across your tractor.
The easiest way to tell if the wax is ready for removal is to grab a clean, dry finger and wipe off a patch of the paint in one line.
Once you are done with all of the steps, it is important to remember that applying wax too often will build wax residue on top of the clearcoat, giving the surface of your vehicle a muddy appearance.
It is always recommended that you wax your tractor outside in direct sunlight, as the sun can dry the wax out rapidly when you are applying it.
In fact, as you will see in the video below, the wax is so effective at wicking away water, it is possible to use water — specifically, water from an open hose — to dry out your waxed vehicle.
Wash your tractor with a good soap before waxing
The first step in waxing a car is washing your tractor, as there is no point polishing a vehicle covered with grime, pollen, and bird droppings.
The benefits of waxing a tractor are that it keeps your tractor looking awesome, and extends the life of the paint job, which increases the cars value.
You cannot wax your tractor too much, but consistently waxing increases the chances of splotches and swirls in the paint (hence my circular movement alert).
The best aesthetic results are achieved when swirls and scratches are absent.
If you are not bothered by swirls and scratches, you have removed the contaminants through a mechanical process (detail clay or detail clay wipes), you may want to consider using non-cleaning wax.
