Best rattle can paint
For plastic model kits, acrylic-based paint is the most commonly used and most popular form of paint for plastic models.
There are a lot of paints that are available in spray bottles, smaller bottles, and in plastic tubes in todays market.
Acrylic paints can be used on porous surfaces such as wood, but with some prep work, priming and sealing, can be used on plastics as well.
Use a good primer of die cast models
Specially designed paints can be used without primers on plastic, though an acrylic varnish almost certainly needs one.
Colors will be more consistent on top of good primers — you will not see any nasty spots.
After spending countless hours getting every detail on the model right, you want to use paint that is going to be a lasting finish that will dry to a full saturated color.
Details matter during paint prep
Getting a deep, glossy paint job for your model will take several steps, much like new paint for a full-size car.
Acrylic enamel paint dries fast, so once you have started, you will have about an hour to complete. Simply using any spray paint because it has a bond with plastic on the jar, without reading reviews or researching, is going to be counterproductive.
What is the best way to paint model cars
When using the best airbrush paint for plastic models, be sure to mask off any parts that are not supposed to be painted.
Try to thinner out regular acrylic paint for models out of the airbrush, before using in the sprayed applications. When changing colors, simply blast the miniature painting airbrush several times with water or cleaning airbrush cleaner.
Model color paints may also be used for applying several thinner coats and glazing, by simply diluted with a bit of water or diluting agent.

Vallejo specialises in making paints for airbrushing models. Vallejo Model Air colors are some, if not the, best ready-to-use paints for airbrushing your die cast or plastic model cars, trains, or planes.
Vallejo Game Colour is an acrylic paint designed especially to paint Fantasy figures using a brush-on method.
Jacquard airbrush colors work great, even with lower pressures, and there is little dry-out or tip-clogging.
Golden Transparent Highflow Acrylics provide a nice level of coverage but may be slightly more difficult to work with than the airbrush-ready Vallejo brands of paints (such as Model Air or Game Air).
